Bold and Bright in 2012

The new year is in full force, and lots of new trends for 2012 are already popping up! By now I'm sure you've heard that Pantone has selected Tangerine Tango as their 2012 color of the year:

But another color that is going to make a huge statement this year is turquoise. This bright and fresh color is cool, yet has warm undertones, making it quite versatile. Depending on how you use it in your home, it can look clean and calming, or warm and lively. Here is some inspiration for you to choose the shade that's right for you and how you can bring this hot (cool?) trend into your home:

(^The warm undertones of this dusty shade are brought out nicely by the orange and coral throw pillows- Design by Chocolate Butterbean)

(^A warm and relaxing oasis of rich texture and color- Design by François Halard)

(^Cool, clean and crisp with a shot of heat- Design by Tracery Interiors)

(Turquoise and red can be a tough combination to pull off, but if done right, it's absolutely gorgeous. Keep your eye out for it this year because it's sure to start springing up everywhere- Design by Sköna Hem, above; and Holly Dyment, below)

And don't be afraid to look in unexpected places for color inspiration! Beautiful shades of turquoise are everywhere, not just in pretty rooms =)

(^The Villa Marilla Resort- Take me there!)

 (^The Kensington Market- how fun-looking!)

(^We love this chandelier by Marjorie Skouras Design so much that we ordered it for our shop!)
